the programs I used were Paint tool SAI and Photoshop CS5.

What happened between step #4 and #5 besides adding the patterns? Did you use Multiply on the layer settings or just tweak the colors to make them darker? I'm just curious, it looks lovely all the same :)

I dragged on some textures I got from google and added them above the colors and shadings. I then erased where I didn't want to pattern to go. Then last I set the layer to multiply and I lowered the opacity a bit. :)

I really like the effect here. I don't use Multiply or Overlay very often but this makes me want to experience with it alittle more. :D
